Church Teaching

CCC 2822: "Our Father 'desires our will to become one with his divine will as his Son conformed his to it perfectly, so that we may accomplish our Father's will perfectly on earth as his Son accomplished it.'"

CCC 2825: "Although Jesus 'in every respect has been tested as we are,' he always did 'the will of him who sent [him].' We know by faith that Christ's human will is perfectly united with the divine will."

CCC 2827: "We ask our Father to unite our will to his Son's, in order to fulfill his will, his plan of salvation for the life of the world."

CCC 460: "The Word became flesh to make us 'partakers of the divine nature': 'For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God.'"

The doctrine of theosis teaches that through grace, humans are called to participate in the divine nature. This framework provides a practical method for living this participation in every moment.

"God became man so that man might become god." - St. Athanasius
